Dr. Parvathi Unninayar Iyer

Dr. Parvathi Unninayar Iyer is a highly distinguished Paediatric Cardiologist and Intensivist with over 37 years of extensive experience. She currently serves as the Director of Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. Her academic journey began with an MBBS from AIIMS, New Delhi, in 1978. She then earned her MD in Paediatrics from PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 1983. Additionally, she trained in Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Therefore, her training and credentials are truly world-class.

She is a pioneer in the specialty of Paediatric cardiac critical care. She was closely involved in setting up the Paediatric program in 1995. This was the first integrated program that incorporated an intensivist in India. Moreover, she received the Best House Surgeon in Pediatrics award from PGIMER in 1981. Furthermore, she received the Best Postgraduate in Pediatrics award from PGIMER in 1983. Additionally, she received the V.B. Raju Award II at the XXIIIrd Annual conference of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics in 1986. Consequently, she is a globally recognized and trusted name in paediatric cardiac intensive care.
