About Dr. K S Iyer
Dr. Krishna Iyer is one of India’s most experienced and renowned pediatric cardiac surgeons, known for his pivotal role in establishing and advancing pediatric cardiac care in India and other developing countries. After beginning his medical journey at AIIMS New Delhi, he pursued advanced training in infant cardiac surgery in Australia. He introduced neonatal cardiac surgery at AIIMS and later established North India’s first dedicated pediatric cardiac program at Fortis Escorts (formerly EHIRC) in 1995.
He has performed over 14,000 surgeries for congenital heart disease, treating children from India and more than 15 other countries. Notably, he successfully conducted India’s first rapid two-stage arterial switch and double-switch operations.
He has authored over 100 research papers in national and international journals and has held leadership roles in several prestigious pediatric cardiac societies.
