Dr. Atul Mathur

Dr. Atul Mathur is a highly distinguished Interventional Cardiologist with over 34 years of extensive experience. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Interventional Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. He is also the Chief of the Cath Lab and the President of the Indian Council for Carotid Therapeutics India. His academic journey began with an MBBS from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, in 1984. He then earned his MD from the same university in 1987. Subsequently, he pursued his DM in Cardiology from AIIMS, New Delhi, in 1991. Therefore, his training and credentials are truly world-class.

He is a pioneer in the field of both Coronary and Vascular interventions in the Asia Pacific. Apart from complex coronary procedures, he is also an expert in aortic stent grafting, carotid stenting, IVC filter placement, and peripheral vascular stenting. Structural heart interventions like balloon valvotomies, acquired VSD Closures, and LAA appendage closures are also performed by him. The first Indian doctor to obtain a US patent for a medical device used in Carotid Artery Stenting is him. He also performed the first Carotid Stenting Procedure in India in 1999. Additionally, he has conducted conferences and workshops at an international level to train budding interventionists.
