About Prof (Dr.) Subhash Gupta
Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Gupta is a highly respected Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgeon with over 37 years of experience in Surgical Gastroenterology, Liver Transplantation, and Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgery. Currently, he serves as the Group Chairman of the Centre for Liver & Biliary Sciences at Max Healthcare. Moreover, he leads one of the world’s largest liver transplant programs, which has successfully performed more than 3,000 liver transplants. In addition, the center performs over 200 liver transplants and an equal number of complex HPB surgeries every year. Furthermore, he supervises safety protocols across Hepatology, Anaesthesia, Critical Care, and Liver Transplant services. As a result, patients receive safe, coordinated, and high-quality treatment. Over the years, he has played a key role in advancing liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery in India.
Furthermore, Dr. Gupta is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Living Donor Liver Transplantation (LDLT) in India. Before joining Max Healthcare in 2017, he worked at AIIMS, Queen Elizabeth Medical Centre, St. James’s University Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. Moreover, he has published more than 30 scientific papers on liver transplantation in indexed journals. In addition, he has received several prestigious honors, including the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the Yash Bharti Award, and the Vishisht Chikitsa Ratan Award.
