About Dr. Vivek Marwah
Dr. Vivek Marwah is a highly accomplished gynaecological surgeon with over 36 years of extensive experience. He currently serves as the Principal Director of the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology at Max Hospital, Saket. Advanced Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgery in Northern India was pioneered by him. He also introduced the concept of Operative Micro Hysteroscopy in India for the first time. A Unit of Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery was established at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, in 1990 by him. This unit was the first of its kind in India dedicated to Gynae Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopy surgery.
He currently heads the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecology at Max Super Speciality Hospital. The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and Surgical Review Corporation (USA) recognized this centre as a Centre of Excellence. He also received the Kurt Semm award for Excellence in Pelviscopy from the AAGL. Therefore, his training and credentials are truly world-class.
Additionally, Dr. Marwah has several innovations to his credit. A technique of Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with Endosuturing was devised by him. A method of Laparoscopic creation of Neovagina was also developed by him. Marwah’s Uterine Manipulator for operative laparoscopic procedures was designed by him. Surgeons widely use this manipulator all over South East Asia. Marwah’s Lithotomy poles for patient positioning during operative laparoscopic procedures were also created by him.
Moreover, a Guinness World Record was beaten by him by removing a 3.9 Kg Uterus Laparoscopically in 2009. Numerous chapters in textbooks on gynaecological endoscopy have been contributed by him. He also serves as a faculty member of EISE and CEMAST. Consequently, he is a globally recognized and trusted name in minimally invasive gynaecology.
