Dr. Shyam Bihari Bansal is a highly respected Nephrologist and Kidney Transplant Specialist. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Institute of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant at Medanta, Gurugram. With vast clinical expertise, he is recognized as a global leader in nephrology and renal transplantation. Moreover, he has been involved in the care of more than 3,000 kidney transplant patients.
He completed advanced nephrology training at SGPGIMS Lucknow, one of India’s top institutes for nephrology. Later, he established the Department of Nephrology at Medical College Gwalior in 2006. In addition, he worked at Fortis Hospital, Noida, before joining Medanta in 2009. Since then, he has played a major role in building one of India’s leading kidney care centres.
Dr. Bansal specializes in chronic kidney disease, dialysis, acute kidney injury, transplant nephrology, and critical care nephrology. Apart from patient care, he is deeply involved in academics and research. He is the coordinator of the DNB teaching program in nephrology.
