Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam

Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam is a highly experienced Neurosurgeon with over 26 years of expertise in advanced neurosurgical procedures. Currently serving as Senior Consultant, Professor & HOD at Amrita Hospital, he is widely recognized for his specialization in neuro-oncology and movement disorder surgery using minimally invasive techniques. His academic foundation includes MBBS and MS in General Surgery from JIPMER, followed by MCh and DNB in Neurosurgery from the prestigious NIMHANS. With a strong focus on adopting the latest technological advancements, he ensures safe, precise, and effective neurosurgical outcomes for his patients.

With extensive experience in modern neurosurgical techniques, Dr. Balasubramaniam has been a pioneer in the use of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s disease since the late 1990s. A key area of his expertise includes image-guided neurosurgery combined with intraoperative MRI and neuro-monitoring for safe tumor resection. He has also played a significant role in advancing endoscopic neurosurgery since 1997, particularly for conditions such as hydrocephalus, pituitary tumors, and intraventricular tumors like colloid cysts. His proficiency extends to stereotactic radiosurgery, Gamma Knife, LINAC-based therapies, and epilepsy surgery techniques including SEEG. In addition to clinical excellence, he is actively involved in research, with over 50 publications in national and international journals, and is passionate about training the next generation of neurosurgeons.
