Doctor Vijay Kohli

Performed more than 10,000 cardiac operations.
To his credit, he has over 150 scientific research papers published both nationally and internationally.
In Kathmandu, Nepal, the first surgeon ever performed a CABG on a beating heart.
With extensive and varied clinical experience as well as knowledge in several facets of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, Dr. Kohli is a superb cardiovascular surgeon. With Professor Hertzer at the Berlin Heart Institute in Germany and Professor Randas Batista in Brazil, he has conducted research on heart failure. At Vienna General Hospital in Austria, he has collaborated with Professor George Wieselthaler on the implantation of various VADs (Ventricular Assist Devices), heart transplantation, and the treatment of patients with heart failure. Additionally, he has had the chance to collaborate with Professor Vincent Dor on the success of Dor’s ventricular aneurysm repair surgery and with Professor Antonio Calafiore Chieti of Italy on the principles of the septal exclusion approach and restoration of the mitral valve in remodeling of the ventricular morphology. In 2001, Dr. Kohli performed the first coronary artery bypass procedure at Jammu Medical College. In Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2002, he became the first surgeon to execute a coronary artery bypass on a heart that was still beating.

In 2003, he became an FIACS Fellow of the Indian Association of Cardio Thoracic Surgeons.
