Doctor Sumit Singh

In the year 2000, Dr. Sumit Singh, a top student at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and recipient of the BL SONI Gold Medal, joined the faculty of the institution. In 2002, he opened India’s first headache clinic in the government sector at AIIMS. He is regarded as an authority on headache problems and played a key role in the creation of the Indian subcontinent’s headache care guidelines. In 2002, he introduced the first use of Botulinum toxin for headaches in India and expanded its application to patients with trigeminal neuralgia. He is a well-known expert in Parkinson’s disease and has knowledge of patient planning and programming for DEEP BRAIN STIMULATION SURGERY. His primary area of interest has been movement disorders, and he is one of the few doctors in the nation that also does hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, spasticity treatment with botox, and treats patients with writer’s cramp, spasmodic torticollis and other dystonias. He has updated the plasma exchange protocols for patients with Myasthenia gravis and multiple sclerosis after conducting a good deal of research in these conditions. From 2009 to 2016, Dr. Sumit served as the additional director of Neurology at Medanta the Medical City and was the program’s coordinator for the treatment of headaches and movement disorders. He has 104 publications in peer-reviewed journals to his name, along with 14 book chapters.
