  • Leading Indian cardiologist Dr. Praveen Chandra is the director of interventional cardiology at Medanta Medicity in Gurgaon, India. He is an expert in several modern gadgets and technology and is regarded as one of the country’s top angioplasty specialists. In 2016, the President of India presented him with the “Padma Shri” award in recognition of his excellence and accomplishments in the field of medicine. Additionally, he has held the positions of Consultant Cardiologist at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center, New Delhi, and Director of Cardiac Cath Lab & Acute MI Services at Max Healthcare.

    He is a fellow of both the Asia-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology and the Endovascular Intervention Society of India. Dr. Chandra has held prestigious faculty positions at numerous international conferences and served as the course’s organizer and director in New Delhi in 2005 and 2006. About 100 articles, reviews, and abstracts of his work have been published in various national and international magazines. In India in 1998, he received the esteemed Recognition Award for Success and Achievement in the field of angioplasty.

    He performed an operationless percutaneous aortic valve implantation for the first time in India. He also performed the first-ever percutaneous repair of the mitral valve. Both have significant ramifications for our nation, which has the greatest number of valvular heart disease cases in the world. He also developed the Percutaneous Myocardial Laser Vascularization Program in Asia, employed the Angio Jet Thrombectomy Device first, and used FFR and bioabsorbable stents first in India.
