The largest series in India, he has performed around 6000 renal transplants and 3500 C.A.P.D. catheter insertions to his credit. Additionally, he has over 200 original publications, surgical innovations, and lectures on many aspects of transplantation that he has presented at national and international forums. The last few years have been spent spreading awareness of the ethics, law, and necessity of organ donation as well as transplantation.

He has spent the last 31 years as the department’s chairman and senior consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. Over the past ten years, he has also been in charge of the transplant services at the Artemis Health Sciences Institute in Gurgaon, Haryana. He has served as the Noida Medicare Center’s Head of Renal Transplant Services.

At govt. registered centers in three states, Dr. Harsha Jauhari was a pioneer in establishing successful renal transplant surgery programs.

He has been working on creating the National Organ Transplant Programme (NOTP) and National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) since he was appointed advisor (Organ Transplantation) to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, in 2014. He serves as a key member of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s advisory and expert panels for subjects relating to renal disease, dialysis, and transplantation.

In 2004, the Hon. Delhi High Court specifically named him to serve on a High Powered Committee that included the Director General of Health Services, the Health Secretary of the Government of India, and others to evaluate the rules and provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organ Act (1994). Dr. H. Jauhari made a significant and important contribution to this. One of his many suggestions was to establish a National Organ Transplant Program. This is currently in its second phase of implementation and is operational.

In the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Harsha Jauhari serves on a number of expert committees. They consist of the National Organ Transplant Program, the construction of stand-alone dialysis facilities, and the instruction of dialysis doctors, transplant surgeons, and transplant coordinators. The W.H.O. and GATT both have committees that make policy regarding medical tourism and the movement of healthcare workers.

He participates in the National Patient Safety Implementation Framework for India (2018-2025) Expert Core Group.

In order to spread the word about organ donation, the Director General of Health Services designated Dr. Harsha Jauhari as the organizing secretary for the World Organ Donation Day public events, which were conducted in November 2010 at India Gate in New Delhi.

In 2011, he was the sole non-government representative on a six-person delegation led by the Director General of Health Services that was in Madrid to provide training to the National Transplant Organization of Spain.

His services had been solicited by the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi for staff training and to support a holistic transplant program there. This software, which embodies the finest of P.P.P., is currently running smoothly.

Dr. Harsha Jauhari developed and taught a course called “The Art of Surgery” in 2002 with the goal of helping young physicians, particularly surgeons, improve their surgical abilities. Students were assisted in learning basic surgical skills in a specially designed “O.T. Skills Room.” Lectures on “Concept & Attitudes” reinforced this. This course has already been helpful to many doctors. Soon, a book he wrote on the subject will be published.

His many credentials include a Diploma in Medical Ethics & Law. Over the past ten years, he has served as Chairman of the Medico-Legal Committees for the India Society of Transplantation (ISOT), Delhi Nephrology Society (DNS), The Association of Surgeons of India (Delhi), and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He has assisted in resolving more than 70 Medico-Legal complaints against physicians and institutions.

He has been unanimously chosen as the association’s president for the 2016–17 academic year in Delhi.

Despite being a transplant surgeon, he was unanimously chosen to lead The Delhi Nephrology Society in 2007–2008, demonstrating the respect his peers have for him.

He oversees the ASICON CME Foundation in New Delhi as its chairman.

As a result, it can be concluded that Dr. Harsha Jauhari has made a significant contribution to his field of transplant surgery as both a clinician and a teacher. He is a recognized authority on transplantation ethics and the law.
