As a specialist in treating surgical illnesses of the chest affecting the lungs, pleura mediastinum, trachea (windpipe), esophagus (food pipe), chest wall, and diaphragm, including chest trauma, Dr. (Prof.) Arvind Kumar is a thoracic (chest) surgeon. He is the director of the largest and most thorough program in the nation for robotic chest surgery, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), and chest oncosurgery, which provides the full spectrum of chest surgical services. During his 36 years of appointed duty at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, Dr. Arvind Kumar is recognized with completing the majority of VATS and robotic chest surgeries in India. He has one of Asia’s most extensive backgrounds in robotic thymectomy for thymoma and myasthenia gravis.
Under the direction of Prof. Arvind, the “Team Thoracic Surgery” at Medanta provides state-of-the-art surgical treatment for a variety of non-tumor chest conditions, including Bronchiectasis, Aspergilloma, Pneumothorax, Empyema, etc., as well as all cases of Chest Trauma.
